Kenosha WI, (January 15, 2025) Shalom Center announces that Tamarra Coleman will be stepping down as Executive Director to pursue a new opportunity in the nonprofit sector. She has been named the new Chief Executive Officer at the Racine Family YMCA. The Shalom Center Board of Directors sadly accepted her resignation with the solace that her talents and skills will still be in service locally. The Executive Board has also unanimously appointed Esther Roberts, current Shalom Center Housing Case Manager, as Interim Director.

“Under Tamarra’s leadership, Shalom Center has grown and firmly established itself as an essential service to the Kenosha community,” stated Robert Riedl, Shalom Center Board Member. “With the strength of Shalom’s management team, we were able to quickly appoint Esther Roberts as Interim Director.”

With the stability of an interim director, the Shalom Board will now begin a strategic search process for a permanent Executive Director. Job description and required qualifications will be posted on the non-profit’s website. “With an involved Board of Directors, strong management team, dedicated employees and a volunteer base of over 400, the new Executive Director will be well supported,” continued Riedl.

Tamarra Coleman left the business world in 2015 to become a member of the management team at Shalom Center. In February 2019, she became the Executive Director. Under her leadership, Shalom Center went through two major expansions, the most recent being the opening of the Hope Hub Community Center in 2024. “The entire Board wishes to express our gratitude and appreciation to Tamarra, and we wish her all the best as she continues her service to the community,” stated Steve Hartfield, Shalom Center Board Chair.
