The mission of the Shalom Center is to serve the community by providing emergency food, shelter, and support in ways that meet immediate needs and respect human dignity.
The Shalom Center is a private non-profit 501(c)(3) social service organization incorporated in the state of Wisconsin in 1984. We fill a unique and vital role in the community as we respond to the food, shelter and support service needs of the homeless and low-income population of Kenosha. We accomplish this by partnering with the numerous faith communities, community at large, businesses, schools, non-profit and civic organizations, governmental agencies and others that share our mission. A Board of Directors governs the Shalom Center and is responsible for establishing the agency mission, setting policies and providing general governance under which all programs and services are provided. The board establishes and enforces operational policies and employs an executive director to carry out these policies and oversee the finances of the organization.
