Our Food Pantry is always looking for volunteers to support our pantry operations.
Monday/Wednesday/Friday – 8:00am-3:00pm
Help with the distribution of food to our clients and assist the clients in navigating the aisles to select food to be brought home.
Tuesday/Thursday – 8:30am-2:00pm
We need volunteers to stock, sort, and shelve food donations that come in from our various donors. Donations are assessed to ensure proper quality and then prepared for distribution and arranged in our aisles.
Monday-Friday – 8:30am-2:00pm
Warehouse support volunteers help us unload produce, goods and food from the delivery trucks of our community partners and donors into our warehouse space for it to be sorted, stocked, and shelved.
3:30-4:30pm Sandwich Making
4:30-6:30pm Serving Dinner
Our Soup Kitchen is open every day and has not missed a night in 35 years. Community groups and faith organizations serve food to clients each night with 8-12 volunteers. We have also launched a pilot program The Soup Kitchen Network, which is a second meal site that rotates between churches. As we expand, we need more volunteer groups to fill this second site.

Shalom Center’s Soup Kitchen is in need of kitchen support on Fridays, Saturdays, and Mondays. You can help us keep the kitchen clean and running by washing dishes, wiping tables, sweeping, and mopping.
Our Shelter is looking for a variety of volunteers to take part in the programs at our new building.
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Commitment: One Day Per Week
Volunteers Needed: 2 to 5
Volunteer must have good computer skills.
Assist with online job searches, housing searches, applications, email set up and monitor internet use
Position: Resume Assistance
Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Hours: Daytime; Hours to be determined
Number of Volunteers Needed: 3 to 4
Commitment: One day per week
Volunteer must have good written and oral communication skills and have experience in Microsoft Office.
• Meet with client to gather information
• Create resume
• Follow up with client to ensure accuracy
• Finalize resume
• Print 5 to 10 copies for client
• Email copy to assigned case manager
Other Volunteer Opportunities
One half day or full day weekly (during regular business hours)
We are in need of a volunteer to help with tasks in administration on a weekly basis. A commitment to at least a half or whole day each week is required, flexibility appreciated. Tasks may include filing, making phone calls, managing recurring reports, and learning systems. Volunteer would report to one or perhaps two directors and work closely with other administration staff (receptionist, assistants, volunteers).
Shalom Center is looking to build a community committee of volunteers interested in coordinating and participating in events and initiatives to support the Shalom Center’s efforts to help the homeless. We need motivated individuals and groups that are interested in creating events and running food drives to help feed and support those in need.
