The Healthy Choice Food Pantry is a program that provides families in need with emergency food once a month. The food pantry distributes perishable and non-perishable groceries to families in need, three days per week. The amount of food distributed depends on the available food supply and the size of the family. Participants must provide proof of identity, number of household members and income; along with proof of residency. The food pantry is staffed by a full-time manager, a full-time assistant and a full-time warehouse manager, as well as over 300 volunteers and groups, who help unpack donation trucks, sort, stock shelves and assist shoppers.
The Food Pantry also packs “senior boxes” for about 1,200 senior citizens per month. The senior boxes are an extra box of staple food (such as cereal, juice, proteins, vegetables and fruits). About 200 of them are delivered by volunteers from our food pantry to senior living facilities and homes, while another 250 are picked up at the food pantry.
